Fish N Spliffs: UK Roundup- April 21, 2021

This week we have great new tracks from No Tourists, SL, M1llionz, BackRoad Gee, Dave, KO and Jimmy!

A week a few days late. Sounds about right! Let’s get right into some of my favorite new tracks.

No Tourists- Blue

No Tourists are back with another unique, undeniably exciting track. “Blue” is a great representation of the dark and chaotic energy that follows you when your down or depressed. It’s very active, just like the thoughts that race through your head head. Whether you’re in a crowded club or alone in your room, ducking everyone’s phone calls, the blue is always lingering. With tight, thematic verses and interesting production that shifts and changes shape as the song progresses, No Tourists continue to be a group pay close attention to.

Dave- Titatium

David is back and we all should be happy. I don’t need to say anything about this one. It’s fucking Dave.

SL and M1llionz- Versus

Two of my favorite UK artists trading verses over some absolutely insane production. Yeah, I’ll take it. M1llionz proves again that he will tear apart any beat, all while fitting in as many syllables as possible. His delivery just deadly. SL is as cool and laid back as ever, and I swear, his technical rapping ability is improving with every single verse he does. He’s playing with his flows more and more.

BackRoad Gee, BG and TizzTrap- A YO

BackRoad Gee is a madman. BG and TizzTrap match his energy here. Well, no one ever really matches his energy, but they are right at home here. Energy Energy Energy!

Pete & Bas- Plugged In W/ Fumez

Just fucking insane. Varied flows and deliveries. Hilarious lines. Energetic performances. These fucking geezers have it all. Seriously, just listen to the way they go back and forth on the back end of this track. I saw this shit blowing up on twitter, and Anthony Fantano just did a video on them. At least we can all get our hipster on and say we loved Pete and Bas before they blew up. I swear to fuck if these two actually blow up for real. I can’t think of anything better, honestly.

Jimmy- Find A Way

KO- What We Do

Two of the 98s boys are back with some new tunes. Both tracks are a lot more subdued than a lot of the drill they’ve appeared on, but it goes over very well. Jimmy absolutely glides over a soulful, minimal piano driven beat, while KO continues to play with more melody, expanding his vocal range a bit. They’re both solid tracks from two artists that are always improving, and I think the 98s could be in for a huge year. Such a wildly deep group of talented guys.
