Hope everyone is enjoying and banging that new Abra Cadabra mixtape, and please be sure to check out my review if you haven’t already! Also, apologies for missing last week’s roundup. Life happens. But, this week’s will be a rather truncated version as well, since I’m giving this whole “Year End List” shit a try. I’ll probably have two separate lists; one for the UK/World music I’ve listened to, and then one specifically for American artists as well. That way, I think it’ll give me a good chance to talk about a lot of music that I haven’t covered here. It’s worth noting as well, that I do plan on branching out to much more than just the UK next year. I was hoping to do that much sooner, but I bite off a bit more than I could chew. We’ll figure it out eventually. It’s all about growth, baby!
But without further ado, here are a few tracks that have come out recently that I’ve really been fucking with, including another nice throwback in the Special Spliff section.
Dezzie and Headie One- Opp Diddy Bop
OFB is just such a ridiculously loaded and talented group. Dezzie’s hard, and Headie shows again that he can jump back and forth from his more commercial drill to the grimier shit that he made his name on.
Kush- Picture This
Look, more OFB!
French The Kid- Daily Duppy
French is fucking hard. Not much I can say at this point. The talent is obvious and he’s improving with every single track he puts out.
Lucii- Mirror
We were lacking in demonic energy over here at Willersworld. Missed this one two weeks ago. But I just love that the top comment points out how he released this on the 6th, at 6pm UK time, holding a 6 up in the thumbnail. His demon shtick might come off as a bit corny and forced to some, but I personally love this shit. He just wants your lungs and your guts! Nice guy.
PS- Plugged in W/ Fumez
It’s funny, energetic, rude, brutal and full of the signature Zone 2 Sonic rings sound effects. Criminally short if I’m being honest.
Burna Boy- Way Too Big
Not a new song, but a new video. Burna’s visuals are absolutely unmatched.
Special Spliff(s)
Digga D- No Diet and P4DP
Here are two tracks that really got me deep into the drill scene last year. No Diet is catchy, hard and full of hilarious punchlines. P4DP features an unbelievable flow to start the track out. Don’t know how Digga D has the lungular fortitude to pull that shit off. No, lungular isn’t a word, but it’s WillersWorld so I dare anyone to tell me to come up with something different.
As an extra bonus, check out Digga D’s Chicken Shop Date video below too. That whole series is hilarious. Matter of fact, fuck it, check out the M Huncho one too. Oh, and watch this hilarious video of M Huncho interviewing himself. Digga and Huncho are two fantastic examples of artists who just ooze charisma and character. This combination of music and hilarious videos should tide you all over until I get my ‘best of’ lists done in the coming week or so.
Much love to all of you beautiful people. Tell your mothers about drill.
