We’re back for the first UK Roundup of the year. It’s been a few weeks, so there’s a good number of tracks that are worth checking out. Let’s get right into it:
Unknown T- WW2
He had one of the best albums of 2020 and starts of 2021 with a bang. This is T at his best, and the flute laden beat is hard. He’s just unbelievable. Flow indefatigable. Best dancer in the scene too.
Abra Cadabra- Flicky
This track starting growing on me as soon as I put review out of Product Of My Environment. It’s nice to see Abra have a ton of fun int he video too. He deserves it after the year he had.
M24- Is it
M24 keeps his work rate up, and I love it when he’s aggressive like this. His flow is always improving too, and he’s been getting funnier with his ab-libs.
Teeway- Breaking Bad
The video’s sick. Teeway’s definitely one to keep an eye out for this year. He’s been getting more buzz and every track he puts out is better than the last.
Offica and Dbo- Take It (Yuck)
These aren’t just the two best drill artists from Ireland, but that can legitimately hold their own in the scene as a whole. Dbo terrifies me and his presence on any song is immense. Offica is so technically talented. These two are a deadly combination.
M1llionz, SkengTrabMob,Tugz, and Mwoo- Experience
“Who’s that on the roof with a chopper? Hello it’s me again!” 🙂
Unknown P- Daily Duppy
The poshest man in drill is back with his first Daily Duppy. It’s hilarious and he’s actually transcending it all just being a joke. He’s legitimately talent and his verses are always great.
slowthai and A$AP Rocky- Mazza
Something a little more aggressive that his most recent singles. The video is fucking insanity, and I love the track itself. Rocky’s performance is great. slowthai’s upcoming album should be a good one.
Special Spliff: 67 and Giggs- Lets Lurk
You might recognize the beat from the famous “Man’s Not Hot” freestyle that Big Shaq did. The original track is an absolute drill classic though. The biggest act in drill at the time in 2016, and Giggs. It’s legendary.
The “Oh Shit, Guess I Rolled Two Spliffs” Extra Special Bonus Spliff: The Roundup’s already long, so it might make sense to just include a little something at the end. Instead of a simple meme or video, here’s something that’s essentially as long as a full length movie. It’s an amazing cypher that is the closest I’ve experienced to seeing a live show, or something that has the same energy of a live performance.
The energy is high and all of the guys have chemistry when they’re performing. It’s worth considering that a lot of these artists have released a ton of new music in the last year and haven’t really had the chance to play it live. This is the closest thing they’ve had to that, and it feels like a huge release of energy they’ve had built up. It’s just so fun, and more than worth the entire length. Some more unexpected guys really perform well here and more than hold their own. The time codes in the comments are crucial too.
Groundworks Cypher: 2020: Unknown T, Digga D, M1llionz. KO, V9 Teeway, DA, Tugz, AlChubbino, Billy Billions, Jimmy, Mazza
